Butler Selected as Beneficiary of Deutsche Bank Championship
Butler has been selected as one of Deutsche Bank’s charities in its Birdies for Charity Programs. The Deutsche Bank Championship is New England’s premier PGA Tour event, held at the TPC Boston. Pledges can be made to Butler in your own name or in honor of someone else. Learn More

Parkinson’s Expert Opens Movement Disorders Program at Butler
Joseph H. Friedman, MD, neurologist and recognized expert in Parkinson’s disease (PD), has joined the Butler medical staff. His appointment expands the hospital’s diagnostic, treatment and research programs offering a holistic approach to PD and other movement disorders. Press Release

Study Seeks to Identify and Reduce Suicide in Emergency Departments
In collaboration with colleagues at the University of Massachusetts and Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Ivan Miller is conducting a five-year, three-phase longitudinal study in eight emergency departments around the country to determine the effectiveness of suicide detection and prevention. Community Guide to Mental Health
In March 2006, Butler Hospital created a user-friendly Community Guide to Mental Healthcare in Rhode Island. The guide lists treatment providers throughout the state by city or town and includes their contact information, types of insurance they accept, and their treatment specialty areas. It also contains descriptions of the different types of treatment providers, as well as overviews of common mental illnesses, their symptoms and treatments.
